Fueled by the charismatic presence of lead singer and songwriter Michael Franano, the Front has expanded its hard rock following past the fertile, blues-drenched delta of the Missouri River, the band's original stomping grounds. After years of dues-paying around the mid-west, the Front signed a management contract with McGhee Entertainment (Bon Jovi, Skid Row). The self-titled debut album, THE FRONT, was released this week. The record was produced by Andy Wallace, who has worked with the Cult and the Godfathers.
The Front's fiery lyrics, entirely penned by Franano, are characterized by the passionate torment of "Fire" (an early standout track at AOR radio). The song is the subject of the Front's first promotional video: "Fire" was directed by Paul Rachman and produced by Tima Surmelioglu (whose credits together include Britny Fox's "Standing In the Shadow," Suicidal Tendencies, Accept and Anthrax) for the Foundry, a division of Propaganda Films. Director of photography was Crescenzo Notarile (Rolling Stones' "Mixed Emotions," Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen).
The Front is comprised of Michael Anthony Franano on lead vocals, his brother Bobby Franano on keyboards, lead guitarist Mike Greene, Randy Jordan on bass and vocals, and drummer Shane.
