A powerful singer/songwriter, Michael Anthony Franano blends intensely personal lyrics with an uninhibited singing style to create one of the most magical blends of talent in the musical world. We are given a rare insight of personal examination and growth throughout his professional career through the use of his words, which are thought provoking, not just something one listens to arbitrarily. Single lines of songs stick long after the stereo has been turned off.
Michael has mastered his own voice with a wide vocal and emotional range. One minute could be sensual, the next, angry, and the next melancholy, many times in the same song; many with strong sexual overtones.
His earliest work was recorded with The Front in 1989; a raw, powerful, hypnotic album, was well received. The first single, "Fire" went to number 29 on the Billboard charts and received air play on MTV. In 1993, the band changed its name to Bakers Pink and released a self titled album on Epic records. A sophisticatedly angry release explores the darker side of humanity.
Michael went on to become an artist and writer for Sony Music and has written songs for movies and television programs including the popular "Party of Five" and "Melrose Place." He also composed the score to an award winning short film entitled "Lynn's Wake."
In 1998, recording under the name Michael Moon, Michael released his first solo album with Mutiny Records. The song "Chanel No. 5" and the band are featured in the Woody Allen movie, "Celebrity", which stars a variety of well known Hollywood names.
2000-2002 found Michael writing and recording again with guitarist Mike Greene. This collaboration resulted in several live shows, including SpiritFest 2001 in Kansas City, MO.
Michael is continuring to write and record as Michael Anthony Franano, and we will continue to update you on his current endeavors.
